Even 2-2 split for Sparta, Flames.

CANTON – Toronto Sparta Academy was running roughshod over the 2010 Elite division of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup. That was until they met the Vermont Flames on the ice of the Canton Ice House on Saturday afternoon, where the two sides played to an even 2-2 final.

A perfect 3-0-0 in their first three games, Toronto put themselves in a good position for a fourth straight win when they took a 2-1 lead through the game’s first half against the Flames. The two sides matched goals early, but a late goal by Aaron Petrov sent Toronto to the halftime intermission with the lead.

Sparta’s advantage nearly lasted throughout as they stayed in front of the Flames for much of the game’s second half. It was not until late that Chris Pinko drew Vermont back to even with an unassisted goal at 16:25 of the second to finalize the game’s 2-2 score.
