Power House continues assault

BRIDGEWATER – Thus far in the 2016 Mini Chowder Cup, Power Hockey have put on performances befitting of their team’s name. After a pair of double digit wins on Friday, they started Saturday with a 9-4 victory over Mid Fairfield ’02 at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.

Quinton Byfield ran roughshod over opponents on Day 1 of the tournament, and started Day 2 in similar fashion. The Power Hockey forward netted a natural hat trick in the game’s first 9:10 to stake his side a 3-0 lead. That lead opened to 4-0 before Mid Fairfield broke up the assault. Dean Bauchiero’s score at 14:00 the first goal of the tournament scored against the Power Hockey juggernaut.

Mid Fairfield netted the game’s next goal as well, CJ Zezima cutting the deficit to 4-2 just 30-seconds into the second half. They were holding with their opponent as the two side traded goals early in the second, it was not until late Power Hockey was able to push away.

Leading 5-3, Power Hockey struck for three goals in the span of 2:05 near mid-second half to finally put their opponent away. It was the start of another run of four unanswered by Power Hockey as the lead extended to 9-3.

Once more Mid Fairfield broke up the four-goal run – a DJ Hart score at 17:01 – but it served as the game’s final goal, the contest ending 9-4.

Byfield had added to his hat trick in the second half to finish with a game-high four goals.

Four more from Power Hockey ended with multipoint showing. Liam Babcock, Cole Vallese, Matthew Wong and Jamie Drysdale all credited with a goal and an assist. Hart and Nate Hanley also finished with multipoint games, also with a goal and an assist apiece for Mid Fairfield.
