BRIDGEWATER – The Warriors 02 opened their ‘02 division play at the 2016 Mini Chowder Cup on Thursday morning with a 3-2 win over HC Northstars at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.
The two sides traded shots quickly back-and-forth in the first. Angelo Venuto opened the game’s scoring at 13:28 to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage. It was, however, an advantage that lasted a mere 12-seconds as Patrick Gray drew the game back to even at 13:40.
There was a little more space between this time around, but the game followed a similar pattern in its second half. Jacob Maddalena gave the Northstars their first lead of the contest when he made it 2-1 at 10:25 of the second half. It was not seconds, but not minutes either for that lead to evaporate, Collin Berube reestablishing the tie, 2-2, posting a goal at 12:24.
Once more a team took a one-goal lead – Warriors forward Hazen Pike with the goal at 18:17 – but this time around there was no return volley. The 3-2 Warriors lead holding as the game’s final score.
Charlie Addessa ended the contest as its only multi-point scorer, credited with a pair of assists for the Warriors.
