CANTON – The first game of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup went down as a win for the Boston Jr. Blues. They defeated Power Play Hockey Elite 4-1 on Friday morning at the Canton Ice House.
Their strong start to the tournament was aided by a strong start to the contest for the Jr. Blues, who kicked things off with a pair of first half tallies against Power Play. Lucca Brotto and Jackson Murphy each credited with a goal in giving Boston a 2-0 halftime lead.
Power play got on the board with an even strength goal from Jack Fanning in the second, but that was all they managed to sneak past victorious netminder Matthew Darby.
With Darby and the Boston defense shutting things down on one end, the Boston offense doubled their score on the other in the second. A goal each from Luke Kierstein and Cam Burns brought the score to its 4-1 final.
