Freezers blank Townshend.

CANTON – The New England Freezers made it a strong start for themselves at the 2018 Mini Chowder Cup. They dominated their debut performance, shutting out Townshend Hockey ’04 6-0 on Friday at the Canton Ice House.

It took until just past the midpoint of the game’s first half for the Freezers to get on the board, a Matt Babineau goal at 10:11 credited as the game’s first tally. A Jermey LaCroix goal at 15:51 doubled up their total to 2-0, which the Freezers carried through to the half.

New England’s offense made quicker, more efficient work in the second. Will Rice started the second half’s scoring with a goal at 3:42. It was the first of four in the frame for the Freezers, accounting for their six unanswered in the game and their 6-0 shutout.

All six goals went down as unassisted, all six coming from a different Freezer. And while the offense did its job on its end of the ice, the Freezer defense did its job on the other. Owen Bedrosian credited with the shutout.
