Plush 5-1 victory for the Teddies on Friday night.

FOXBORO – After skating to a 3-3 draw earlier in the day, the Junior Teddies closed out their opening day of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup with a victory on Friday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center. They defeated the Vermont Jr. Catamounts 5-1.

The Teddies cruise to their cushy victory began with a three-goal first half. Brayden Kotzen netted a pair and Cameron Willis added a third to send the teams to the break with the Teddies leading 3-0.

It was a lead that grew to 4-0 before Tyler Ritche put away the lone Catamounts goal of the contest. There was no comeback for Vermont, however, as the Teddies netted their fifth to close out the game’s scoring and the 5-1 victory.

Kotzen’s two goals were matched by teammate Brady Wallace’s two assists, the duo finishing as the game’s only multi-point scorers.

Lev Smotkin was credited as the game’s winning netminder.
