ATTLEBORO – The Minuteman Flames closed out their preliminary round in the 2010 Elite division of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup a perfect 4-0-0 on Saturday afternoon. They did so by defeating the 128 Raiders 3-1 at the New England Sports Village.
While the Flames had been on a roll throughout the opening of the tournament, their contest with the Raiders was a tight one for much of its duration.
The two sides traded goals in the first. The game’s first lead went to the Raiders on a Jack Queally goal. Brayden Erickson then tied things up for the Flames just before the half.
That 1-1 score is where things remained until late in the second when Landon Roe put the Flames in front for the first time at 16:31 of the period. Ethan Machado capped things off with a goal with about a minute remaining, sealing the 3-1 victory.
It was the third win of the tournament credited to Minuteman netminder Will Torres.
