Little Rhody victorious over Flames in opener.

CANTON – Little Rhody Hockey club has opened their 2005 Division slate of games at the 2019 Mini Chowder Cup with a 7-4 win over the Vermont Flames on Friday at the Canton Ice House.

It was an even first half as the two sides tallied a goal to send the game to the break at a score of 1-1. Angus Frew for the Flames and Little Rhody’s Joe Curtastone were responsible for the goals.

The second half was a different tale when it came to offensive output, as the combined goal total in the latter half more than quadrupled with nine goals scored. Of those nine, Rhody got the better of them, doubling up on the Flames in the frame, 6-3.

Curtastone completed his hattrick, netting a pair in the second. Duncan Stewart also netted a pair in the half for Little Rhody, the two goals of his game-high four-point performance (2G, 2A). Michael Reed and Nicky Tunno were each credit with a goal to round out the Little Rhody scoring.

There were three different scorers in the frame for the Flames, each of their side’s goals in the game coming off a different player’s stick. Luke Clarner, Dylan Poddrick and Blondin Cooper credited with the second half goals for Vermont.
