CANTON – The Scotia Seakings tore their way through the preliminary round of the 2024 Mini Chowder Cup a perfect 4-0-0, culminating with a 5-2 victory over Performance Hockey Group on Saturday at the Canton Ice House.
It was a tight battle out of the gate as the game’s first half began and ended with the two sides tied. Each team scored once in that opening frame. Cole Reagh credited with the goal for Scotia, Jake Evans for Performance Hockey.
Performance Hockey did double their score with a goal late in the second, but that was not before the Seakings ran off four unanswered to start the game’s latter half and take a commanding lead. Jaxon Mood – the game’s leading scorer with three points – netted a pair, while Jack Shearer and Beckett Schlender each scored once to set up Scotia’s eventual 5-2 victory.
Seaking netminder Chase Grandy locked down his fourth win of the Mini Chowder Cup.
