Militia blanks Flames, 3-0.

CANTON – The East Coast Militia ran their preliminary round record to 3-0 with a 3-0 victory over the Vermont Flames in 2005 Division play on Saturday at the Canton Ice House.

Special teams took the lead in the first for the Militia. Peter Fischer netted a power play goal – and the eventual game-winner – at 6:10 of the opening half, assists coming from Cam McGettrick and Ryland McGlame.

In the second half, McGettrick – the game’s leading scorer (1G, 1A) – moved from the assist column to the goal scorers column when he doubled the Militia lead. Shawn-Patrick McGuiggin then sealed the 3-0 victory for the Militia.

The offense was good, but the backend of things for the Militia was flawless. Goaltenders Zephyr Jones and Mike Pelletier combined to post the clean sheet from the East Coast net.
